Evidence has proven that sex and relationships education play a vital role in preventing future abuse and violence for young people. Research conducted by the Youth Endowment Fund, has highlighted that evidence-based relationships and sex education is proven to lead to a 17% reduction in violence.
However, it is not just about what is being taught in classes that has the biggest impact. We know that promoting healthy relationships and reducing abuse is most effective when these messages are set into the context of a wider whole-school approach with buy-in from all members of staff.
